#11 Short Film Analysis
As I start my project I wanted to analyze a short film to learn about some techniques that are used. The short film I picked is "All Too Well- The Short Film" by Taylor Swift.

The first thing I decided to take note of is the use of sound. The short film starts with diegetic sound since the 2 main characters are talking. In the background, you can hear music slowly fading in. For most of the short film, you only hear the music and some noise from the actual film like a car driving and leaves crunching. All of the dialogue we get comes from the world that they are in.
The next thing I analyzed was the different shots and camera angles they used to convey meaning. In close and intimate scenes they used close-ups. This showed the audience that they felt safe with each other and loved each other. As their relationship started going downhill the shots became more distant. They used long-shots and mid-shots to show the growing distance between the couple.
Next, I analyzed the editing of the short film. The main thing I noticed was the titles they used to signify the progression of their relationship. They used titles like "The First Crack in the Glass" and "The Remembering" to show the audience what portion of the story we are in. During these certain parts the cuts between shots change. When they are in a happier portion of the story the cuts are slow. When they start arguing the cuts get faster to show aggressiveness.
The last thing is representation. This short film shows the ups and downs that come with relationships even if they are short. It flips back and forth between them being happy with each other to them arguing and eventually breaking up.
Analyzing this short film showed me what goes into a short film to keep the audience engaged in it!
