#15 Poster Analysis

 In this blog post, I will be talking about the importance of posters. Posters are a great way to advertise your film and construct meaning. They can show the audience who will be in the film and give them sneak peeks without spoiling anything. Last year I made a movie poster for my film on canvas and then posted it on my Instagram. Making the movie poster showed what the film was going to be about without stating it. I am planning on doing this again for this year's project.

The poster I decided to analyze today is from "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". This poster has the 5 main characters sitting on stadium bleachers. This poster foreshadows what will happen in the film. First, the poster identifies the setting. The kids are sitting on bleachers since they are teenagers and it takes place in a high school setting. Next, it foreshadows a love triangle that will happen. Charlie the main character is sat in between two girls (Sam and Mary Elizabeth). In the film, Charlie is dating Mart Elizabeth but we soon find out he only has feelings for Sam. Foreshadowing in posters is a great way to shock your audience when they watch your film.

I will be making a poster once I cast my actors and come up with a name for my film.
