#16 Advertisements

In my last blog post, I talked about the importance of posters. Posters and advertisements go hand-in-hand since they both help attract an audience. I will discuss the advertising for "Wicked" since the marketing and ads made it very popular.

Once Wicked was announced it never left my screen. I was seeing ads for it on social media, at movie theaters, and even grocery stores. The number of advertisements that were made for Wicked made the movie very popular and had people buying tickets to see the premier or go on release day.

There were multiple social media ads and accounts that were made to promote the movie. Many people today are active on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter, which made it easier to get people interested in the film since they were seeing bits and pieces of it all the time. They would also post behind-the-scenes bloopers and interviews of the cast. This created a connection with the audience since they got to see a vulnerable side of the cast.

Another way Wicked was marketed included food. They partnered with Kraft and Betty-Crocker to create Wicked-themed mac n cheese and cake mixes. For both of these products, you did not know what color you were going to get until you made the food. These products were more appealing to children even though their target audience includes all ages.
