#17 Script Research
As I started planning out my film I wanted to do some script research. When researching I compared last year's script to professional movie scripts to learn about what I could change.
Looking at my script from last year I picked out some things I want to keep the same. When I write my script I want to keep the things I put in brackets the same. Those were the locations, time of day, and characters' actions. This year I want to add what emotions the characters should be feeling in that scene. This will make it easier for me and my actors to convey different emotions as we film.
When researching a real movie blog I went onto "StudioBinder" and searched for a movie I had already watched. I decided to pick "Call Me by Your Name" which I had researched in an earlier blog post. When looking at this script, I noticed that the character's actions were described in detail. Every action was described in detail and they talked about things that were not shown in that scene like when they said it was obvious that Elio and Marzia had both been lying on the bed. This year I want to use this to make sure there is no confusion between me and my actors during filming.
Researching and reflecting on different scripts showed me what I should and should not do this year when I write my script!
