In my 22nd blog post, I will share some ideas I have for music in my film.
When choosing songs for my film I had specific feelings I wanted to achieve. At the beginning of my film, I wanted my music choice to reflect what my character is feeling, which is sadness and loneliness. The music I chose has a somber tone in the beginning. The first song I will use in my film is "Come" by Adrianne Lenker. I specifically want to use the first minute of the song because it is instrumental. When I listen to the song I feel like it encapsulates the feeling of loneliness without saying anything. I chose this song because of the opening portion of the song. The opening starts off quiet and slowly builds up. I want to use this part of the song when my characters are alone either at home or at school. The sad feeling that the audience feels when listening to the song and having my characters be alone, in the beginning, will reflect how they are feeling.

For my second song, I chose "Margaret" by Lana Del Rey feat. The Bleachers. This is a song that they wrote together about how he fell in love with his wife. It repeats the phrase "When you know, you know" multiple times throughout the song. I want to use this part to show that both characters know that the other is the person they need to help them through dark times. The song is very calm but still beautiful. I have decided to use this song when my main characters get into a relationship. I want to show the safety and comfort they feel when they are together. The gentleness of the song is a perfect way to show this in my film.
