#47 Filming Day 3
Today wraps up the filming process of Look for the Light. In this blog post, I will discuss the things I did while filming.
The first scene I filmed was the montage scene. I took my actors to a nearby park and asked them to do whatever they liked. I let them have free rein in this scene to create natural happiness. We went to the park around 5:30, when the sun was setting. The sunlight at that hour cast a warm glow on my actors. At the beginning of the project, I knew I wanted to use colors to convey emotions and make the audience feel a certain way. The sunlight during the montage scene created a sense of happiness within my characters.
I also filmed the scenes where Taylor wakes up in the morning and gets ready for school. I wanted this scene to have a cool tone to it, so I used cool-toned lightbulbs in the bathroom. I had to try multiple angles with this scene because of the mirror in the bathroom. After a lot of trial and error, I ended up standing inside the bathroom and used a mid shot.
I also filmed other scenes like John meeting Taylor's parents and the 5 months later scene which shows the audience that they are in a relationship. For the scenes in the living room, I used very little light to create a cozy and comforting atmosphere. For the 5 months later scene, I used the bedroom lighting to make sure that the audience could see that the flowers and pictures were of my main characters.
Im very happy with how my scenes have turned out and can't wait to see how it looks after editing!
