#50 Final Editing
Now that I am all done with filming, I can make final edits to my short film. These edits include adding music, color filters, and captions/text.
Starting off with sound, I screen-recorded the two songs I'm using and uploaded them into my editing software as my own audio. I then used the split audio feature so I could place the music wherever I wanted to. After the music was in the right place, I went back and adjusted the volume of the music during the car scene. When my characters are in the car, I wanted the music to be playing quietly in the background so it can fade in during the montage. The last thing I did for sound was to lower the volume of the conversations during the scene where my characters walk past each other.
The next thing I did was add in any text or captions. There are a few time skips in this short film. I wanted to clearly state that it was a time skip so the audience would not get confused while watching. I also added in text bubbles so the audience would know that my characters are having a conversation over the phone. These text bubbles were a feature that was on my editing software, which I was happy about because it shows the audience that this is something that is happening inside the world of my short film.
The last thing I did was add a blue color filter to the first few scenes. These scenes show that my characters are isolated. I used colors to convey that feeling to the audience. Before importing the clips to my editing software, I used the filters that are an option on my iPhone to make the clips cool-toned.
